नई दिल्ली । नई दिल्लीकोरोना महामारी की वजह से विदेशों में फंसे नागरिकों को देश वापस लाने के लिए शुरू किए गए वंदे भारत मिशन के तहत सरकार करीब 61 लाख नागरिकों की घर वापसी करा चुकी है। यह जानकारी विदेश मंत्रालय ने गुरुवार को राज्यसभा में दी। मंत्रालय ने लिखित जवाब में बताया है कि 30 अप्रैल 2021 तक कुल 60,92,264 भारतीयों को देश वापस लगाया गया है।
पिछले साल की शुरुआत में जब कोरोना महामारी ने चीन के बाहर पैर पसारना शुरू किया तो दुनिया के अधिकतर देशों ने सख्त लॉकडाउन और पाबंदियों की घोषणा की। अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ानों पर पाबंदियां लगा दी गईं। ऐसे में दुनिया के कई देशों में लाखों भारतीय फंस गए। सरकार ने इन्हें वापस लाने के लिए वंदे भारत मिशन की शुरुआत की थी और दुनिया के अलग-अलग कोनों से विशेष विमानों के जरिए लोगों को वापस लाया गया था। हालांकि, यात्रियों को इसका किराया वहन करना पड़ा था।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने यह भी बताया है कि कोरोना संक्रमण की वजह से 35 सौ से अधिक भारतीय नागरिकों की विदेशों में मौत हो गई। मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि विदेशों में स्थित मिशनों और पोस्ट्स के जरिए दी गई जानकारी के मुताबिक, विदेशों में 3570 भारतीयों की मौत कोरोना की वजह से हुई है।
