नई दिल्ली (आरएनएस)। उपराष्ट्रपति एम. वेंकैया नायडू ने आज देश के नागरिकों से खादी को ‘राष्ट्रीय वस्त्र’ के रूप में अपनाने की अपील की और इसके इस्तेमाल को व्यापक रूप से बढ़ावा देने का आग्रह किया। नायडु ने विभिन्न क्षेत्रों की हस्तियों से इसके लिए आगे आने तथा खादी के उपयोग को बड़े पैमाने पर प्रोत्साहित करने का आह्वान किया।
उपराष्ट्रपति आज खादी और ग्रामोद्योग आयोग (केवीआईसी) द्वारा मनाये जा रहे आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव के तहत आयोजित खादी इंडिया क्विज प्रतियोगिता के शुभारंभ अवसर पर संबोधित कर रहे थे।
नायडू ने सभी से खादी इंडिया क्विज प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेने का आग्रह करते हुए कहा कि यह प्रतियोगिता हमें अपनी जड़ों की ओर वापस ले जाने का एक रोचक माध्यम है, क्योंकि यह हमारे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के ऐतिहासिक क्षणों और हमारे महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के अद्वितीय योगदान का स्मरण कराती है।
नायडू ने पिछले 7 वर्षों में खादी के अभूतपूर्व बदलाव पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त की और इसके विकास में तेजी लाने के लिए सरकार, केवीआईसी तथा अन्य सभी हितधारकों की सराहना की। उपराष्ट्रपति कहा, मुझे यह जानकर खुशी हो रही है कि केवीआईसी ने पूरे भारत में अपनी पहुंच स्थापित करने में सफलता प्राप्त की है और लोगों को देश के दूर-दराज के कोनों में भी स्थायी स्वरोजगार गतिविधियों से जोड़ा गया है।
उपराष्ट्रपति ने खादी की ऐतिहासिक प्रासंगिकता को याद किया और कहा कि यह स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान जनता को जोडऩे के लिए एक बंधनकारी शक्ति थी। नायडू ने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी ने वर्ष 1918 में गरीबी से पीडि़त जनता के लिए आय का एक स्रोत उत्पन्न करने के लिए खादी आंदोलन शुरू किया और बाद में उन्होंने इसे विदेशी शासन के खिलाफ एक शक्तिशाली प्रतीकात्मक उपकरण में बदल दिया।
खादी के पर्यावरणीय लाभों का जिक्र करते हुए उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि खादी में शून्य कार्बन फुटप्रिंट है क्योंकि इसके निर्माण के लिए बिजली या किसी भी प्रकार के ईंधन की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है। उन्होंने कहा, ऐसे समय में जब दुनिया कपड़ों के क्षेत्र में स्थायी विकल्प तलाश रही है, तो हमें यह याद रखना चाहिए कि खादी पर्यावरण के अनुकूल और टिकाऊ वस्त्र के रूप में निश्चित ही हमारी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करती है।
उपराष्ट्रपति ने शैक्षणिक संस्थानों से यूनिफार्म के लिए खादी के रूप में इसके उपयोग का मार्ग तलाशने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि यह न केवल छात्रों को खादी के कई लाभों का अनुभव करने का अवसर देगा बल्कि उन्हें हमारे महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों और स्वाधीनता आंदोलन के इतिहास से जुडऩे में भी मदद करेगा। उन्होंने कहा, अपनी विशिष्ट झिरझिरटी बनावट के कारण खादी हमारी स्थानीय जलवायु परिस्थितियों के लिए काफी उपयुक्त है। नायडू ने युवाओं से खादी को फैशन स्टेटमेंट बनाने और उत्साह के साथ सभी के द्वारा इसके उपयोग को प्रोत्साहन देने की अपील की।
