हालांकि मेरी अभी उम्र नहीं है ‘सठियाने’ की लेकिन मुझे महसूस होने लगा है कि मैं सठिया गया हूं। थोड़ा-बहुत नहीं बल्कि उम्मीद से ज्यादा सठिया गया हूं। मेरा सठियानापन इतना बढ़ गया है कि क्या घर, क्या बाहर, मैं खूब दुत्कारा जाने लगा हूं। इसे मैं अपनी ‘खुशकिस्मती’ समझता हूं कि कथित समझदारों, बुद्धिजीवियों, प्रगतिशीलों की भीड़ में एक अकेला मैं ही सठियाया हुआ हूं।
यकीन कीजिए, पहले मैं सठियाये लोगों को बेहद ‘हेय दृष्टि’ से देखा करता था। उनसे बात तक करना अपनी तौहीन समझता था। लेकिन इधर जब से मुझे खुद सठियाने का रोग लगा है, मैं दूसरे सठियाये लोगों की भावनाओं को अच्छे से समझने लगा हूं। मैं यह मानने लगा हूं कि सठियाना बीमारी नहीं बल्कि दिमागी एवं वैचारिक स्वतंत्रता की निशानी है।
सठियाया आदमी ज्यादा बेहतर तरीके से खुद को अभिव्यक्त करने की क्षमता रखता है। उसे न किसी का डर होता है, न खुद के कहे पर शंका। यही वजह है कि अब मैं ज्यादा बेहतर तरीके से खुद को व्यक्त कर पा रहा हूं। किसी भी मुद्दे पर मैं अपना बेबाक सठियाया नजरिया तुरंत रख देता हूं। साहित्य से लेकर समाज तक किसी भी गंभीर या अ-गंभीर मसले पर आप मेरी ‘सठियायी राय’ ले सकते हैं। हां, मेरी ‘सठियायी राय’ को मानना या न मानना आपका काम है!
न-न मुझे इस बात की रत्ती भर फिकर नहीं रहती है कि लोग मेरे बारे में क्या-क्या और कैसा-कैसा कहते हैं। उनके ‘कहने’ के डर से मैं अपना सठियानापन नहीं त्याग सकता। मैंने तो ऐसे-ऐसे समझदार लोग देखे हैं, जो दावा समझदारी का करते हैं, किंतु रहते हर वक्त सठियाये हुए हैं। समझदारी का मुल्लमा चढ़ाकर अपने सठियाने को वे छिपा सकते हैं परंतु मैं कभी नहीं। मैं तो बे-खौफ होकर कहता हूं कि मैं सठिया गया हूं। बिना सठियाये आप नहीं जान सकते सठियाने का सुख। मुझे खुशी होती है, जब लोग-बाग मुझे ‘सठिया गया’ कहते हैं। मेरी कोशिश रहती है कि मैं ज्यादा से ज्यादा सठियानापन अपने लेखन व व्यंग्यों में ला सकूं ताकि सामने वाले को पढक़र यह लग सके कि यह किसी ‘सठियाये हुए लेखक’ का लेखन है।
मुझे अपने सठियाने पर सबसे अधिक संतोष बुद्धिजीवियों से असहमति रखकर होता है। बुद्धिजीवी वर्ग जिन चीजों-बातों को नकारता है, उसे मैं स-हृदय अपनाता हूं। बुद्धिजीवी वर्ग जिस पूंजीवाद, बाजारवाद, अमेरिकावाद का विरोध करता है, उसका मैं समर्थन करता हूं। जिन प्रगतिशील रास्तों पर चलने को बुद्धिजीवी वर्ग कहता है, मैं उसके विपरीत चलना पसंद करता हूं। बुद्धिजीवी वर्ग लगातार नेताओं को बुरा-भला कहता रहता है, मैं उन्हें लोकतंत्र का सबसे भोला-भाला व्यक्ति कहता हूं।
इन असहमतियों पर अगर कोई मुझे सठियाया हुआ कहता है तो कहे, मेरी सेहत पर फर्क नहीं पड़ता। क्योंकि मैं ‘दोगला चरित्र’ लेकर न जीना चाहता हूं, न मरना। मेरी पहचान अगर सठियाये हुए लेखक या व्यक्ति की बन रही है तो बनती रहे। कागजी बौद्धिक बनने से बेहतर है, सठियाया हुआ घोषित होना।
