अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रवासी संगठन के प्रवक्ता सफा मसेहली ने ट्विटर पर यह जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि लीबिया के तट पर खम्स के समीप एक नाव के पलट जाने से कम से कम 57 लोगों की समुद्र में डूबकर मौत हो गयी। मृतकों में 20 महिलाएं और दो बच्चे भी शामिल हैं। लीबियाई तटरक्षक बल और मछुआरों ने 18 लोगों को बचा लिया।
हादसे में बचे लोगों ने बताया कि इंजन में गड़बड़ी के कारण नौका रूक गयी थी और खराब मौसम के बीच यह समुद्र में पलट गया।
इससे पहले बुधवार को कम से कम 20 लोगों के नौका से गिर जाने से समुद्र में डूब गये थे।
