इस्लामाबाद ,10 मार्च । पीपीपी के सह-अध्यक्ष आसिफ अली जरदारी पाकिस्तान तहरीक-ए-इंसाफ समर्थित सुन्नी इत्तेहाद काउंसिल के उम्मीदवार महमूद खान अचकजई को हराकर पाकिस्तान के 14वें राष्ट्रपति चुने गए। जियो न्यूज की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, आसिफ अली जरदारी को 411 वोट मिले, जबकि महमूद खान अचकजई को केवल 181 वोट मिले। 68 वर्षीय आसिफ अली जरदारी पाकिस्तान की दिवंगत प्रधानमंत्री बेनजीर भुट्टो के पति और पूर्व विदेश मंत्री बिलावल भुट्टो के पिता हैं।
2008 से 2013 तक राष्ट्रपति रह चुके आसिफ अली जरदारी को पाकिस्तान मुस्लिम लीग-नवाज (पीएमएल-एन) के नेतृत्व वाली गठबंधन सरकार का समर्थन हासिल था। वो आरिफ अल्वी की जगह लेंगे, जिनका पांच साल का कार्यकाल पिछले साल खत्म हो गया। हालांकि, आरिफ़ अल्वी पद पर बने रहे, क्योंकि नए निर्वाचक मंडल का गठन नहीं हुआ था। इससे पहले बिलावल भुट्टो जरदारी ने कहा कि आसिफ अली जरदारी एक बार फिर राष्ट्रपति बनेंगे। एक्स पर एक पोस्ट में बिलावल भुट्टो जरदारी ने कहा, सरदार बना वो जरदारी, फिर सदर बनेगा जरदारी। दम मस्त कलंदर जरदारी।
